5. Individual Faculty Contracts
Each faculty member is responsible for the development of his or her individual plan for professional and/or personal growth for the purpose of instructional improvement (title 5, section 55726(a)). We have a strong new faculty orientation which includes a full day "nuts and bolts" session which includes critical first week information as well as mission/vision/shared governance-collegial consultation processes. on the day prior to our campus inservice day, then a series (Friday afternoons) which include the following topics:
 
Campus tour
Campus Communication Systems (total use of Outlook, voice/phone system, emergency communications)
Learning Styles/Teaching Strategies
Student Learning Outcomes
Classroom Assessment Techniques
Campus Policy/Procedure, including curriculum processes
Blackboard - Course Management System
Evaluation and the Tenure processes

Greetings Professional Development Coordinators,
As Gary Colombo let you know last week, the LACCD Student Success Initiative Steering Committee has asked me to form a taskforce of faculty and staff development leaders in order to develop and implement an action plan to accomplish two very important goals:
1. Focus Professional Development on Student Success To help faculty integrate practices into their courses designed to enhance the development of essential academic skills, the colleges should focus professional development efforts on topics related to improving basic skills development and student success outcomes. In addition, college professional development coordinators should meet at least twice a semester to discuss and coordinate their activities.
2. Create a District-wide Student Success Network “Create a district-wide

The flex coordinator will:

1. Directly report to the VP of Academic Affairs.

2. Attend staff development meetings regularly.

3. Understand the flex obligations all faculty have, and when we will start enforcing flex obligations.

4. Attend district staff development meetings

5. Work with IT or the appropriate individual(s) to know the names of all faculty and each person’s individual flex obligations.

6. Work with IT to develop on online way of:

a. notifying faculty of their completed flex hours and total flex hour needs

b. allowing the coordinator to update flex hours

c. designing ways for faculty to submit hours to the flex coordinator online, if possible.

7. Accurately update flex hours week
